Martha Hilley, NCTM is the 2014 MTNA Teacher of the Year. The award will be presented to Martha at the Awards Brunch at the MTNA National Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
Our TMTA President Debra Hadfield, NCTM shared these remarks from the selection committee: “Her application materials were amazing. We believed that all of the candidates were very strong, but Martha stood out among the rest. She is a ‘Teacher of teachers’ and loves to share her knowledge with others. Her list of publications along with presentations is phenomenal! She is involved at every level of teaching and is always striving to raise the profession as a whole to a higher level.”
What a great honor to have the MTNA Teacher of the Year as a member of Austin District Music Teachers Association. This is truly the pinnacle of awards in the music teaching field. In addition to her long history of awards for teaching excellence, Professor Hilley was one of nine UT Austin faculty to be named as a Provost Senior Teaching Fellow in the fall of 2013. ADMTA President, Sheree Naquin shares on behalf of the entire membership a huge congratulations to Martha for her tremendous contributions to the music teaching profession.
